Twitt3D [twitt3d.com] is one the few available approaches that tries to combine Twitter with 3D, and probably the only one which chooses for an abstract 3D representation (versus a typical 3D globe, like TwitterVision) and allows users to relatively freely navigate around.

Users you can “fly through” recent Twitter feeds, getting a birds-eye-view or zooming in to see a post close-up. One can also observe which of friends have more followers based on the spatial layout of their tweets. Personally, I was unable to navigate around in any decent or controllable way. But you can watch the video below to check out how it is supposed to work.
